Let me introduce you a cool term in design and and environment: Information Interaction Design. What’s that? they are just three words that represents techniques to deliver information effectively. Of course, with the help of design. Take a look at this picture;
in a simple sentence, we have abilities to transform any data (even difficult ones) to become wisdom, so everyone can receive data easily.
Have you ever come in a situation where you don’t understand something and you wish to understand it easily? ok. now we have techniques. This framework you see is called information interaction design. It provides stages of techniques that we can transform data becomes information, information becomes knowledge, and knowledge becomes wisdom.
Data become information
Data is often boring, incomplete, or inconsequential. It is not valuable as information because it isn’t a complete message. Thus, data is not meant to be presented. Data should be organized to become information. Meaning, sort them out and make them make sense for the users. Some designers undergo user experience test / survey / observation to understand what kind information that make sense for the users.
Information become knowledge
It is the first level of communication with users. It presents meaningful messages because data is already organized according to ways users can understand. Some designers use multi sensory approach for the presentation to comprehend the message, such as putting sound effects, using appropriate typography, utilizing images/graphic to support meanings and applying animation/videos.
knowledge become wisdom
It is the highest level of understanding. It is a level where users can understand the information and have interpretation at the same time. In another words, users have full understanding and they have personal feelings too. To make wisdom among users, we need to create experience. Some designers integrate storytelling technique to create experience. By using storytelling technique, users are brought to a complete situation including beginning, climax, and ending.

dalam video ini, data menjadi maklumat(information) dapat dikenalpasti apabila pengkaji melihat bahawa masyarakat memerlukan laluan yang lebih pantas berbanding tangga yang telah sedia ada. mereka perlu sampai ke destinasi yang dituju dalam tempoh masa yang singkat. selain itu, masyarakat yang inginkan kepantasan perlu diberi laluan yang khas. dari situ, pencipta cuba untuk memberi pengalaman dengan menghasilkan “fast lane”.
assalamualaikum dan selamat sejahtera. Nama saya Nur Azwani bt Mohktar 168039. Saya memilih video no 4. Melalui video ini, data menjadi maklumat adalah apabila pereka telah mendapat idea untuk memastikan pelanggan memasuki pasar raya dalam keadaan kasut yang bersih. Jadi, pereka tersebut telah berjaya menterjemah idea dengan mencipta sejenis karpet yang mempunyai puzzle yang perlu diselesaikan. Informati menjadi pengetahuan apabila orang ramai merasa seronok menggunakannya secara tidak langsung, kasut mereka menjadi bersih. Akhirnya pengetahuan menjadi kejayaan (wisdom) apabila ramai orang tertarik untuk bermain puzzle tersebut dan cuba untuk menyelesaikannya setakat yang mereka mampu dan meninggalkan puzzle tersebut kepada orang lain untuk menyelesaikannya. Jadi walaupun tidak mengenali diri antara satu sama lain, orang ramai berasa seronok dan nilai kerjasama terjalin antara mereka.

Ini berlaku apabila pereka telah menghasilkan produk permainan dalam menerapkan amalan membuang botol ke tempat yang sepatutnya. Permainan seperti ini akan menarik minat terutamanya golongan remaja dan kanak-kanak yang kebiasaannya kurang mengambil berat mengenai amalan membuang botol. Permainan ini telah memberi keseronokan dimana mereka akan cuba mencari botol lain untuk terus bermain serta amalan membuang botol dapat diterapkan.

Pada pendapat saya, ‘information become knowledge’ apabila pereka tong sampah tersebut meletakkan sistem bunyi yang menggambarkan seolah-olah sampah tersebut jatuh ke dalam tong sampah yang teramat dalam . Kesan bunyi tersebut menarik penjalan kaki untuk membuang sampah ke dalam tong sampah seterusnya menyebabkan jumlah sampah terkumpul lebih banyak berbanding hari biasa.

I think in this video, the data become information when the designers know someone needs to enter the waste in the trash to reduce garbage lying. Everyone knows that the bins are on the go but not everyone is keen to throw trash into it. One dustbin will make out some unique sound after somebody throw rubbish into the bin. This was attract attention the user and make them feel weird and happy. From that feeling, they redouble effort to throw garbage for listen that sound. Finally, 72kg of rubbish was collected in that bin and that’s 41kg more than normal bin. The situation had been influenced by human litter into it.

Knowledge become wisdom. People are easy to attract by something rare and fun. Create something fun is the easiest way to change peoples behavior. The knowledge become wisdom happens when the designers try to understand the need of recycle behavior among community. The designer create a rubbish bin and form it into a fun arcade games. The quality of experience gain from the user is when they (the users) “interact” with the Bottle Bank Arcade Machine. Each time they throw a bottle or can, the machine will count their point and give a sound effect. It’s fun using that bin. 🙂

I think in this video, the knowledge become wisdom when at first, the designers created doormat puzzle to avoid the dirty floor and the user needs to wipe their shoes on doormat before entering. However, when the doormat is designed in the form of a puzzle, it is a pleasure to users. They try and invite others to try it together. Design has become an attraction and giving pleasure makes them want to try and try again. In not aware that they have cleaned the shoes before entering.

Hello, my name is Nor Aisyah Jatin 167791, I choose video Bottle Bank Arcade Machine (#2). What I had observed, I think the knowledge become wisdom was happen when the people in that video enjoying put a bottle in that machine. When the user understand the information and have interpret it on same time the fun of it obviously had change the behaviour for a better. And we also can see that, over one evening, the bottle machine was used by nearly 100 people. So, we can conclude that people on that video are really fun with it and also encourage them to recycle and respect the nature.

From the video, we can see that after the fast lane slide have been build while the staircase was still remain. Type of user that need to move faster will choose the fast lane rather than using the staircase. By the way, when they are using the fast lane, it was attract the other crowd to use the fast lane too. it is because, it looks more interesting and full of joy. At the same time, they can move faster and do not wasting their time.
